Survey and Lyme Disease and Lyme Symptoms

Posted February 19, 2013.  You will find on Lymedisease.org information about a survey that was conducted in 2011 and how to participate in a new survey they are doing on Lyme disease.  They are looking at the costs of Lyme disease to the patient and to society as a whole.  When you consider how much it costs to deal with Lyme disease and Lyme symptoms, think of by how much the costs could be reduced and your healing time speeded up, if you changed your diet.  I have talked to no Lyme disease patients who eat junk food and are recovered.  Factor that into your cost analysis. You are more likely to be on disability, take longer to recover and be a chronic Lyme disease patient if you are eating and drinking junk.

Junk food leaves you with chronic Lyme disease and Lyme symptoms

From Lymedisease.org:  Our last survey of over 4,000 patients revealed that 65% have had to cut back or quit work or school and 25% have been on disability. We believe this is the largest survey of Lyme patients ever conducted in the United States. The survey was published in a major peer-reviewed journal, Health Policy. (Johnson, L., A. Aylward, Stricker, R. (2011). “Healthcare access and burden of care for patients with Lyme disease: a large United States survey.” Health Policy 102(1): 64-71.)

Exercise and Lyme Symptoms and Lyme Disease

Posted February 18, 2013.  One of my favorite running quotes:

“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”
-John Bingham

Just another beautiful Sunday run.  Hope you have the courage to do something today or this week.  Even if you have Lyme disease and Lyme symptoms, try to do a little exercise of some sort.  Dopamine is so important for the brain and for your mood.  Exercise increases dopamine receptors.

Be Relentless.  100% Recovery.  Never give up!

Lyme Symptoms? Think Lyme Disease!

Posted February 15, 2013.  Woman finally learns she has Lyme disease.  All the strange symptoms and weird experiences that developed while she was pregnant, including chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness and fatigue. When they continued beyond pregnancy, she knew she was in trouble. She almost lost her life in August of 2012.  Then on August 31, “That day I was told that at 26 years old, I would need a pacemaker if I wanted to live,” Crist wrote the Long Prairie Leader newspaper in Illinois. Finally she got some help.

Her story is only too typical.  Years of misdiagnosis and resulting years of agony.  If you suspect you have Lyme disease, if you have any of the Lyme symptoms, get it checked out by a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (or other Lyme Literate health care practitioner).  Do not sit on Lyme disease and Lyme symptoms.  The longer you wait, the harder it is to treat!  And if you already know you have Lyme disease because you’ve got all the Lyme symptoms or you’ve tested positive, treat aggressively.  Don’t wimp out or you’ll stay sick and compromised for a long time.  Hit hard.  And do it now before health care resources are less available. Don’t let a well intentioned but ill informed doctor tell you it’s not Lyme disease.  Be thorough!
