Running, Lyme symptoms and Depression

Posted December 23, 2012.  From Runners World:

POSITIVE OUTLOOK

Running may be just as effective—and in some instances better—than SSRI drugs in treating depression. These antidepressant meds work by keeping neurotransmitters such as serotonin and norepineprhine in the synapses longer, improving mood and outlook. Turns out, aerobic exercise does the same thing. In studies, patients who were successfully treated with SSRIs relapsed sooner than those who stayed physically active.

If you aren’t suffering horribly from Lyme and Lyme symptoms, work some exercise into your day. If you’re still really struggling, take it easy and work exercise in later, as you can.  100% Recovery!  BeRelentless!

Fantasy Football and Lyme Symptoms

Posted December 22, 2012.  Tomorrow the Seattle Seahawks play the 49’ers.  What does that have to do with Lyme or Lyme symptoms? And I know what you guys are saying:  What does Fantasy Football have to do with Lyme symptoms??  Football is the  great metaphor for life.

Many Fantasy Football owners of Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) have made it this far with him, in what is widely known as Fantasy Super Bowl week in many leagues, and they should not be frightened by what they see on paper. Fantasy superstars put up quality numbers against all types of opposition, and deliver when you need it most. And Lynch is unquestionably a Fantasy superstar.

Lynch’s owners should know that when the 49ers show up, Lynch does not back down at all. Savvy Fantasy players will note that Lynch was the first player to score a rushing touchdown against San Francisco last season. He rushed for 103 yards on 19 carries in the first meeting between the teams this season as well.

Let your body know that when the Lyme shows up, you do not back down at all.  Lyme disease is like a mental game of football.  Stay relentless.  Rush the “field” and stay determined. 100% Recovery!

A famous LLMD once told me:  “I can tell within 5 minutes if the patient is going to recover from Lyme disease and all Lyme symptoms.”

Psychotropic Drugs and Lyme Symptoms

psychotropic lyme symptoms

Psychotropic and lyme symptoms

Posted December 19, 2012.  More thoughts on drugs.  People with Lyme disease and Lyme symptoms are not only taking painkillers, but some of these psychotropic drugs too.  Again, I’m not saying don’t take any drugs!  I’m only encouraging people to consider all risks carefully before taking these types of psychiatric medications. I have a friend who gives her son phsychotropic medications with a Black Box warning, because he “can’t concentrate.”  Then he has Red Bull with his lunch.  Many people with Lyme and Lyme symptoms are taking a lot of pills.  Sometimes these drugs are necessary, but we all should be very careful and give any drug thoughtful consideration.  If you suffer from psychiatric distress from Lyme or Lyme symptoms, discuss these issues with your LLMD.   Very good article below….Read on….

We are deeply saddened about the tragic events in Newtown last week. In events like this politicians immediately seek to blame guns but never medication. This article raises the issue of considering gun control AND medication control.

In tragic mass shootings involving guns and mind-altering medications, politicians immediately seek to blame guns but never the medication. Nearly every mass shooting that has taken place in America over the last two decades has a link to psychiatric medication, and it appears the recent Newtown event is headed in the same direction.

According to ABC News, Adam Lanza, the alleged shooter, has been labeled as having “mental illness” and a “personality disorder.” These are precisely the words typically heard in a person who is being “treated” with mind-altering psychiatric drugs.

One of the most common side effects of psychiatric drugs is violent outbursts and thoughts of suicide.

The Columbine High School shooters were, of course, on psychiatric drugs at the time they shot their classmates in 1999. Suicidal tendencies and violent, destructive thoughts are some of the admitted behavioral side effects of mind-altering prescription medications.

No gun can, by itself, shoot anyone. It must be triggered by a person who makes a decision to use it. After all, medication alters the mind that controls the finger that pulls the trigger. The saying that “guns kill people” is physically impossible. People kill other people.

We Should Be Outlawing Psychiatric Medications!
If there is to be any legitimate debate on so-called “gun control” in the aftermath of this shooting, the only idea that makes any sense at all would be to restrict gun purchases by people currently taking psychiatric medications. But even that restriction would of course be abused by the government to take guns away from perfectly healthy, law-abiding citizens who innocently seek treatment for mild depression and who honestly have no clue that psychiatric drugs can cause violent behavior.

A far better solution here would be to outlaw psychiatric drugs that cause the violent behavior in the first place. After all, if you only outlaw guns but fail to eliminate the drugs that cause the violence, people dosed up on mind-altering meds will simply find alternate weapons to commit the same acts of violence.

I have thought for quite some time that people on medication are dangerous operating automobiles on public roads. If driving drunk is illegal, why isn’t “driving on meds” illegal? Why are wildly medicated people allowed to operate heavy machinery?

A high-ranking police officer in Tucson, Arizona once told me, on the record, that one-third of all automobile accidents in the city of Tucson were related to medicated drivers. That’s an astonishing number, and if true, it would seem to indicate that medications are more dangerous than guns when it comes to the total daily body count.

Do The Math: Medications Are Far More Deadly Than Guns

Medications kill roughly 100,000 Americans each year according to statistics. The actual number is either 98,000 or 106,000 depending on which study you believe. For guns to be as deadly as medications, you’d have to see a Newton-style massacre happening ten times a day, every day of the year. Only then would “gun violence” even match up to the number of deaths caused by doctor-prescribed, FDA-approved medications. If our goal is to stop the violence in America, we are completely dishonest if we do not consider the mental causes of violent behavior. And that starts with mind-altering psychiatric drugs which I believe have unleashed a drug-induced epidemic of violence across our nation.Obama, Bloomberg and others will point to guns and try to convince you that inanimate metal objects are the cause of this violence. No guns shoots itself. The trigger must be pulled by someone, and the mental state of that person is the primary cause of the resulting action. To ignore this fundamental chain of facts is brutally dishonest.

The Finish Line and Lyme Symptoms

Posted Dec. 18, 2012.  Inspiration!

Runner lyme symptoms

West Liberty-Salem’s Meghan Vogel, right, helps Arlington’s Arden McMath to the finish line after McMath collapsed yards short in the finals of the Division III 3,200 meters at the Ohio High School Athletic Association state track and field meet in Columbus, Ohio.

When I was really sick with Lyme and Lyme symptoms I dreamed of being able to one day help  someone else who was suffering from Lyme and Lyme symptoms. It gave me the strength to go on.  Now my greatest moments of joy come from messages and interactions with people who are turning around in their Lyme fight, who are recovering.  Bravo to you Meghan Vogel for helping Arden McMath cross the finish line. Thank you for being an inspiration!  I hope to always have your character and your grace.  You are young, but you are a wonderful, positive human being!
